GAPTEC Electronic introduces the new LMTM78 series

Ultra-compact non-isolated SMT DC/DC switching regulator — 0.5 A and 1.0 A in just 9 x 7 x 3 mm

The new LMTM78 series is a non-isolated, regulated DC/DC switching regulator housed in an ultra-compact SMT package, engineered for space-critical and energy-efficient applications in modern electronics. The series is available in two current variants: the LMTM78_0.5R1 delivers 500 mA and the LMTM78_1.0R1 delivers 1,000 mA of output current — both featuring a wide 6.5 to 36 VDC input voltage range and a regulated 5 V output (also available as a -5 V variant).

The standout feature of the series is its remarkably compact and slim form factor of only 9.00 x 7.00 x 3.00 mm — an ideal footprint for highly integrated assemblies where every square millimetre counts. With an efficiency of up to 91 % at full load and a no-load current of just 0.1 mA, the LMTM78 series delivers excellent energy utilisation in both active operation and stand-by. No external heatsink is required, significantly simplifying integration and reducing overall system complexity.

Designed for reliable continuous operation, the series covers an extended temperature range from -40 °C to +85 °C (with derating from 71 °C). A continuous short-circuit protection with automatic recovery safeguards the downstream system even under fault conditions. An MTBF of 1,000,000 hours (MIL-HDBK-217F @ 25 °C) underlines the long-term reliability of the series.

Operating at a switching frequency of 500 kHz with a typical ripple & noise of 50 mVp-p and built-in light-load frequency-reduction technology to reduce power consumption at low loads, the LMTM78 series provides a stable and clean supply for sensitive downstream electronics. The module complies with EN 55032 Class B (using the recommended external circuit) as well as ESD (±4 kV contact) and surge (±1 kV) immunity requirements. The flame-retardant black plastic case is certified to UL94 V-0. The converter follows the international standard SMD pin-out on a 2.54 mm grid and is supplied on tape & reel for automated assembly.

GAPTEC Electronic introduces the new 1S5W_1.5RP series with 2:1 input range in a SIP5 case.

The new 1S5W_1.5RP series is a compact and robust 1W isolated and regulated DC-DC converter designed to deliver stable performance in demanding industrial and embedded applications. With a wide 2:1 input voltage range, the series adapts easily to fluctuating supply conditions while maintaining precise output regulation. This series is also available in a 2W and 3W version.

Despite its compact SIP5 package measuring only 12 x 11 x 7.55 mm and a lightweight design of approximately 3.1 g, the 1S5W_1.5RP series offers reliable electrical performance and reinforced protection features. It provides 1500 VDC isolation voltage and achieves efficiencies of up to 81%, supporting energy-efficient system designs without compromising stability. Engineered for dependable operation, the converter performs reliably across a wide operating temperature range from –40°C to +85°C (with derating). Comprehensive built-in protection features include input undervoltage protection, output overvoltage protection, short-circuit protection (self-recovering) and overcurrent protection, ensuring safe system behaviour even under fault conditions.

With a switching frequency of 350 kHz, low ripple and noise (typically 50 mVp-p), and low isolation capacitance of 20 pF, the series delivers stable and clean power for sensitive downstream electronics. The integrated Pi input filter further enhances input stability. The module meets CISPR32/EN55032 Class A requirements and can achieve Class B compliance with the recommended external circuit.

Designed for straightforward integration, the converter follows an industry-standard SIP5 pin configuration and is housed in a durable black plastic case.
