SMT manufactured SIP3 switching regulator with ultra-wide input voltage range

GAPTEC Electronic presents the new point-of-load-LCB-78 series. These switching regulators are SMT manufactured SIP3 converters with miniature package size (LxWxH: 11.6 x 6.0 x 10.2 mm). This product group has an ultra-wide input voltage range. At 3.3 Vout (DC) Version: 4.5 to 55Vin and at 5Vout (DC): 6.5 to 55Vin. In addition, the LCB-78-series has an extremely low quiescent current of only 200uA and corresponds to green technology standards. The POL converters are short circuit protected (SCP), offer high efficiency of up to 95% and guarantee a temperature range from -40°C to 85°C. Further standard features: max. 30 mV p-p ripple & noise at 20MHz bandwidth. A heat sink as in the use of conventional linear regulators is not necessary. An external circuit is also not required. GAPTEC Electronic offers customers short lead times and 3-year warranty on the transformer of this series.

Smaller, more efficient and cheaper – LC78 switching regulator with minimum quiescent current.

GAPTEC Electronic presents the most inexpensive, non-isolated and surface mount produced SIP3 switching regulator with a minimum quiescent current of only 6mA. The LC78 is a so-called “drop-in” switching regulator which is pin-compatible with the classical LM78 linear regulator and makes a heat sink unnecessary. Therefore the use of the LC78 provides a lot of space on the PCB board. The GAPTEC product development managed to achieve an unrivaled efficiency of 95% and at the same time very small housing dimensions (L x W x H = 11.6 x 6.0 x 10.2 mm). The controller is continuous short circuit protected (SCP) and has a max. 30 mV p-p ripple and noise at 20MHz bandwidth. The temperature range is -40°C to +85°C (without derating 75°C). Input voltage range: 4.75 to 28 VDC (3.3 VDC type) and 4.5 to 42 respectively 55 VDC (5 VDC type). The product warranty is 3 years. This switching regulator series has been developed as an alternative to discrete solutions. Pricing: with a minimum order quantity of 1K = 1.49 €/piece and starting 10K = 1.39 €/piece.

LMS78-2.0 Series – 2A output current in a SIP3 case

GAPTEC Electronic presents the first non-isolated 2A switching regulator in a SIP3 design as an alternative to the standard linear regulator in a TO-220 package. Like the other regulators of the LMS series, the LMS78-2.0 belongs to the family of so-called “drop-in” switching regulator. These are pin-compatible with the standard LM78 linear regulator case, they make a heat sink unnecessary and thus gives the user a lot of space on the board. The regulators offer 5mA quiescent current consumption, they are continuous short circuit protected and include typical 25mV pp ripple and noise at 20MHz bandwidth. The temperature range is -40°C to +85°C (without derating to 71°C). Input voltage range: 4.75 to 18 VDC. The converter has output voltages of 1,5 to 6.5 VDC and provides a high efficiency of up to 92%. As an additional option GAPTEC offers this switching regulator with legs bent and guarantees very short delivery times. The product warranty is 3 years.

New: LMT78 series – cost-saving SMD switching regulators with remote ON/OFF control and adjustable output voltage.

GAPTEC Electronic launches its new, non-insulated 0.5A SMD switching regulators with wide input voltage range (4.5V~28V). When in use the LMT78 does not require a heat sink and thus need less space on the PCB. The SMD switching regulator comes with an adjustable output voltage and includes a remote ON/OFF control. The series offers a MTBF of > 2 million hours and offer extremely high efficiency up to 96%. The operating temperature range is -40°C to +85°C. The LMT78 series offers great short circuit protection and low ripple and noise (typically 10mVp-p at 20MHz bandwidth) and are ideally supply for space constrained mobile applications. At an order quantity of 1000 units, the price per unit (that applies as well for the through hole LMS78 series) is USD 2.49.

LMS78 series – high-efficiency switching regulators – efficiency up to 96%

GAPTEC Electronic launches its new, non-insulated 0.5A switching regulators with extended input voltage range (up to 4:1).
These drop-in switching regulators are size and pin- out compatible with the LM78 linear regulators. In contrast to the LM78, they do not require a heat sink and thus need less space on the PCB. The regulators can be switched for positive or negative output voltage, have a MTBF of > 2 million hours and offer extremely high efficiency up to 96%. Their operating temperature range is -40°C to +85°C. The LMS78 series offers great short circuit protection and low ripple and noise (typically 25mVp-p at 20MHz bandwidth). The no-load current is max. mA. The LMS78 switching regulators provide a great alternative to most standard switching regulators from other manufacturers. At an order quantity of 1000 units, the price per unit is € 1.95 plus VAT.
